Underwriting Processing Manager
Home Office Underwriting has a position open for an individual that can provide leadership, strategic direction and effective management of the underwriting processing operation. This position will report to the VP-Chief Underwriting Officer. The position will partner with others to assure that transaction processing systems are functioning effectively and that defect/issue management processes are in place to resolve system issues in a timely manner. Will collaborate with development staff to successfully implement new systems or system modifications and create workflows based on the business needs of the Company.
The position will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust quality control program that includes establishing metrics and success criteria to measure and track productivity. The selected candidate will coach, mentor and provide direct supervision to the geographically separated Processing Supervisors. This will include collaborating with the Processing Supervisors to identify skills and tools needed to manage their respective staff and assuring that workload, performance metrics and quality review processes are place to manage staff effectively. Will anticipate workflow and system training needs of staff members and works with others to assure training is effective.
The qualified candidate will possess 5+ years experience in commercial insurance underwriting operations, preferably with an emphasis in processing. The successful candidate must be able to lead people and get results through others; think ahead and plan over a 2-3 year time span; organize and effectively manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization. Must possess problem analysis and problem resolution skills at both a strategic and functional level; strong customer orientation; the ability to build efficient processes in support of business objectives and ability to apply technology efficiently in support of the underwriting function. The ability to travel on a regular basis and work outside normal work schedule to fulfill responsibilities is required.
